I'm assuming “Video Poker” guy works for an SEO agency and he is paid to trawl the web and leave comments on posts as long as he manages to get the keywords “Video Poker” and the backlink to the casino into the comment. Great strategy, if a bit black hat. Feel free to adopt the same strategy to build SEO and backlinks for your own blog though. Sign up to Disqus with your top keywords as your name, put your blog link into the “your website” field and then simply comment away. Every comment you make is another backlink. Concentrate on reputable sites and you're effectively creating epic linkjuice.

You should also join the various blog aggregator sites. Locally: MyScoop (http://myscoop.co.za/), Amatomu (http://www.amatomu.com/) and Afrigator (http://afrigator.com/). Personally add each post to Delicious, StumbleUpon, Digg and Reddit. And make sure the search spiders crawl your site by pinging it regularly (http://pingomatic.com/ or http://pingler.com/ or http://pingoat.net/ or http://autopinger.com) and register on http://www.feedburner.com/ (which is fully integrated into Google) to get your blog's RSS feed out there. Another tool that commentators can you is Keyword Luv : Reward your commentators by separating their name from their keywords in the link to their website, giving them improved anchor text.
