Social media is a wondrous place to get lost in for a few hours. Though for some people they have been plunged into an abyss of no return thanks to their social media usage. It is true that social media has changed the way in which we interact with each other.

We have become a society that can articulate ourselves in 140 characters or less. A society that shares everything we read, watch or listen to. We are a society that can communicate mountains of emotions and thoughts with a simple click — we are the ‘Like’ button society.

The social media experience can consume a person’s entire life. You might find yourself adding the ‘@’ sign to people’s names offline. Perhaps you’ve begun using hashtags everywhere and anyway. Maybe you started checking in to your bedroom on Foursquare. There is a possibility of a social media overload. Perhaps you do not know how to exist without Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Foursquare.

Column Five Media, have created this rather fun infographic asks the question of whether or not you need a social media detox. It highlight 10 symptoms of social media overload by placing them in humorous situations.
