The internet is big. Very big. [Infographic]

Ahh! Every day, 4.7 billion minutes are spent on Facebook? 35 million apps are downloaded? 294 billion emails are sent? My brain cannot begin to comprehend those figures. This infographic by MBA online tries to make them easier to understand… or maybe it’s just trying to overwhelm you.

Yes, the internet is big. Just how big? Well, for example, there are more devices connected to the internet than there are people on earth. So it’s pretty big. And it’s growing rapidly – at the end of last year it took just 20 typical households to generate the same amount of traffic that the entire internet did back in 2008.

Time could fill more than 40 000 editions of the magazine with the blog posts generated in a single day. And if you wanted to spend the next 98 years of your life watching cat videos (and who wouldn’t?), that would total the amount of video uploaded to Youtube (just Youtube) a day.

Oh, and how many iPhones are bought every day? Just a few more than the number of babies born on the planet.  Nothing major. Although I don’t know why iPhone sales figures are included in this infographic when everything else is on the internet and websites. But hey, maybe there’s an unwritten rule that you can’t make a tech-related infographic without including Apple?
