This is brilliant. Not the gold for South Africa’s lightweight four rowing team. Sure that’s brilliant if you’re South African. What people from around the globe will be able to appreciate though is Durex’s quick response to it.

The South African office of the condom brand tweeted out a picture of a rower, along with a bottle of its lubricant and the text, “it’s all in the stroke”. A quick, clever, relevant pun that alludes to sexuality — that’s a definite advertising win.

Now where were the people behind that ad during last year’s social media cock up?
