Hootsuite’s new feature: All about conversation and collaboration

Popular social media management tool Hootsuite has announced a new feature dubbed HootSuite Conversations. This new addition to the services offerings allows users to chat with anyone inside and outside their organisation, as well as collaborate with different people in real-time.

Sounds pretty cool doesn’t it? The internal communication tool, says Hootsuite, is helpful in three key areas: simplifying communication, internal conversation and collaboration. Before all you social media managers lose your minds with giddy excitement, here is how it works:

  • Simplify communication: Users are able to talk to anyone you work with, collaborate with, and share messaging with, easily and intuitively within the HootSuite dashboard. “This brings everyone together, and gets the social conversation out of your inbox, eliminating time-consuming email threads.”
  • Internal conversations: This allows users to send social messages to internal conversations for teams to discuss and share across multiple social networks. “Teams can then discuss response strategies, communicate approved messaging and encourage others to broadcast across their own social networks by commenting, re-tweeting, or posting to other social networks.”
  • Collaborate with everyone: People are now able to add anyone to discuss social messages and receive approved messaging. They are also able to communicate with specific teams, departments or entire organisation, without leaving the HootSuite dashboard. Nifty. “Adding collaborators is easy because the tool allows you to import contacts from Gmail or Yahoo! address books, and recognizes your colleagues online.”

HootSuite CEO Ryan Holmes reckons the new feature makes good business sense.

“Conversations will increase efficiency between teams or departments and ultimately improve ROI. Now, true social collaboration can happen around campaigns or trending topics that impact business immediately.”

The new tool is currently available in beta for free to all Pro, and Enterprise users worldwide and because Conversations is built into HootSuite’s Teams functionality, you can:

  • Assign messages for follow-up.
  • Save draft messages privately or for the team.
  • Share search streams for consistent management.
  • Add multiple social networks to a team.
  • Connect team members to multiple teams.
  • Report on team activity and outcomes.
