Gmail and Google Drive integrate completely for larger email files

Since its launch in April 2012, Google Drive has seen a lot of users sign up to share, create and save files. Gmail is now even more integrated with Drive, allowing users to insert files up to 10 GB in size from Drive directly into an email without leaving Gmail. Gone are the days where you could only send emails with a certain specified maximum size.

Gmail has gone through a couple of changes lately, in the quest to make email smoother and easier to use. The integration with Drive is now possible via a pop-up window, giving users the choice to insert files from Drive with a “Insert files using Drive” button. This replaces the standard paperclip used for attachments.

As expected, not everyone has access to some files, and Gmail will automatically ask whether the recipient also has access to these files via another pop-up window.

Gmail and Drive have always been integrated to a degree, but this steps it up a notch. Especially after Microsoft did a similar step earlier with Skydrive and Outlook, and a very similar aspect to Dropbox.
