iPhone 5, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note added to Samsung, Apple lawsuit

If you were even remotely thinking that the Apple vs Samsung battle could be simmering down, especially after the HTC and Apple friendship hugs this week, you were catastrophically mistaken.

Samsung Electronics has been allowed the addition of the iPhone 5 to its patent infringement suit against Apple, and in turn Apple was allowed the addition of the Samsung Galaxy Note, Galaxy S III and the Jelly Bean operating system to its own list. How much more crowded can it get? Don’t hold your breath too long now…

The possibility of even more devices looks to be on the cards as well, as Apple was warned to “think twice” by Judge Paul Grewal before opposing future amendments on Samsung’s part, according to NDTV Gadgets. Products like the iPad mini and iPad 4 could be added in future to the case. The addition of the iPhone 5 was not opposed by Apple.

After the release of the iPhone 5 in September, the Korean tech company decided to add the device as an Apple product that infringed on some of its own patents. Apple hit back immediately with the addition of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung Galaxy S III and the Jelly Bean operating system that runs on the Galaxy Nexus. This is just one of two patent infringement cases currently in the U.S. District Court in San Jose after the earlier lawsuit resulted in Apple being awarded US$1.05-billion in damages.
