Microsoft introduces Send: an in-and-out email app

There can never be enough email apps, it seems. Microsoft has introduced Send, an app designed for in and out email.

Microsoft says that the app is optimised to enable users to send a short quick note to co-workers. Send, the company says, gives you a simple, quick text message like experience while allowing you to reach all co-workers.

The company goes on to point out that one can easily use Outlook for this but then also justifies the existence of Send by saying that the app is better.

The Redmond-based giant says that this app is a result of user feedback, stating that users want to all their communications available in Outlook, even if they send them from other apps.

Some of the Send messages include quick messages like, “Let’s chat in 10”, “Don’t send the presentation yet”, and “Are you in the Office today?”

There is no denying that often users need to send quick emails but how this helps with that is not clear. Surely it does not take that long to send an email to a co-worker to ask them “Where are you?”

Send connects to Office 365 business and school email accounts but the company hopes to extend to make the app more boroadly available in the coming months. The app shows frequent and recent contacts and users can type on a contact to start a conversation or can simply swipe and choose a Quick Reply.

The reason why Send connects with with Office 365 is to allow conversations on the app to be synced with Outlook, allowing users to continue the conversation from anywhere.

Microsoft says that Send keeps the user in control by only showing the emails that have been started in the app.

Send is currently available for iOS and only in the U.S and Canada market. Microsoft says that the app will soon come to Windows Phone and Android.
