Twitter introduces GIF search and video support in DMs
Twitter has today introduced two new features to its platform, GIFs search and video support within DMs.
According to a statement, the introduction is reflective of its users’ habits. In 2015, the company says, over 100-million GIFs are shared on the platform.

“So much can be expressed with GIFs, and the key is to find just the right one in the moment that quickly and efficiently expresses your emotions,” says David McIntosh, CEO and co-founder of Riffsy.
“We’re excited to explore this partnership with Twitter and watch Twitter users discover and share their favorite GIFs in their daily lives.”
The new search for GIFs allows users to easily share GIFs in tweets and DMs. Users can search for keywords or browse categories for different reactions like Happy Dance, Mic Drop or YOLO. Twitter has teamed up with GIPHY and Riffsy to offer a wide range of GIFs.
The other feature that the company announced is video support for DMs. Starting today users can capture and send videos within DM threads. For now, the feature is not available on the website.

Twitter’s latest user figures suggest that the service is stagnating, and as such has put the company under pressure to find a way to lure more users to its platform without alienating its users.
Both features will be coming to users starting today and in the next few weeks.
