John Oliver shows everyone how to deal with YouTube comment trolls

We all love laying down a few scathing words beneath YouTube videos now and again. Oh, just me on Mondays? Okay. Nevertheless, one chap who suffers from online jibes and abuse more than most is John Oliver.

As current host of Last Week Tonight, the comedian takes a lot of flack on the platform for the content covered in the show, and beyond. Even so, instead of taking these personally, Oliver occasionally digs through what he calls “fan mail” to see just how bad things can really get.

And with comments like “John Oliver looks like a mix of a Pokemon and a child molesterer” and “At least you serve your corporate masters well, Unfunny live action Beaker,” the show’s YouTube comments threads are usually more viciously snark than the show itself.

With that said, have a look at some of Oliver’s favourites, and get a pen handy because this is how to deal with YouTube trolls, kids.
