John Oliver wants to make superhero movies great again with Johnny Strong

From X-Men Apocalypse to Suicide Squad to “Sad Man vs Super Sad Man“, 2016’s comic book movies have left a lot to be desired. That’s the cry of John Oliver and much of Memeburn’s staffers at least, but what can be done to inject some life into the dreary DC and Marvel cinematic universes?

Perhaps feeling a tad bored this week, John Oliver took to Last Week Tonight‘s YouTube channel to unveil his intricate new plan to save comic book movies from their current rot.

Johnny Strong, also known as John Olivier, is an unconventional fifth-grade super hero clad in a red onesie. He’s terrified of bed time and learning the clarinet, but his sole purpose is to rid his house of evil — the evil being his cat.

John Oliver’s screenplay sounds a lot better than Suicide Squad’s

While we can’t say that this is one of Oliver’s best web exclusives (I mean, there are clearly plot inconsistencies everywhere), it does shed light on just how underwhelming superhero movies have been this year. For one, Oliver’s screenplay sounds a lot better than Suicide Squad‘s.

Besides, we’ve probably all envisioned ourselves with super powers, flying through the sky like a bird or a plane, and cracking snarky remarks after face-punching evil henchmen. No? Just us then? Okay.

Check out John Oliver’s plan below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
