Jon Stewart compares ‘pathological’ Donald Trump to Emperor Palpatine

Late night shows have had plenty of material since Donald Trump was inaugurated as US president. Hell, even prior to that, to be fair. But one commenter we haven’t heard of much is Jon Stewart.

Since retiring from The Daily Show, leaving Trevor Noah at the helm, Stewart has been rather scarce. That is until now.

Jon Stewart made a surprise appearance during last night’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to read out some executive orders from Donald Trump himself. By Trump himself, we mean Stewart with a dead weasel on his head and a ridiculously long tie.

Memes, obviously.

Jon Stewart, we mean ‘Donald J. Trump’, also decreed that America’s new official language is ‘bullshit’

Regardless of how silly the whole affair is at times (Colbert and Stewart try valiantly to not giggle while staring at one another), Stewart does lay into Trump around the eight minute mark, and it’s frankly quite brilliant..

When he isn’t suggesting that Trump wants China’s Great Wall, he’s slamming the President for boasting a “pathological self-regard”. Stewart also compares the US president to Emperor Palpatine, explaining that the US public has never before seen this degree “purposeful, vindictive chaos”. Ouch.

And that’s barely the sharpest insult.
