iPhone 5’s smaller,19-pin dock connector all but confirmed
Yup, it’s yet another iPhone 5 update concerning the smaller dock for the iPhone 5. But news agency Reuters will be seriously hoping this one comes true.
This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about a new dock for the iPhone 5. It is said to be reduced from a 30-pin connector to a 19-pin. This is in order to accommodate the headphone jack that will be relocated to the bottom of the device.
This would mean that all existing docks for the iPhone would have to be rethought. That, or an adapter would have to be made. Two adapters in fact, because iPhone dock manufacturers will undoubtably change the dock to suit the new phone if it so happens to have this feature. This means that people wanting to buy a new dock for their old phone will then have to buy an adapter.
Apple had it good for so long with its oversized dock connection, but apparently it may be time for a change.
