iPhone 5S users reporting dreaded ‘Blue Screen of Death’ iWork bug

iPhone BSOD

Some iPhone 5S users have been reporting the dreaded “Blue Screen of Death” (BSOD) when trying to open iWork or a number of third-party applications recently. The iWork app comes free with all new iOS devices and is reportedly forcing Apple users to reboot when multitasking.

Some people who have been experiencing this odd issue have been raising their concerns on Twitter, YouTube, Apple support forums and threads.

One of the many users commented “My iphone 5S ( iOS 7 , 32gb) screen turns blue and reboots when I exit the Numbers app made by Apple. Other people seem to be having this problem as we’ll.” This comes at quite a shock as BSOD is mostly associated with having plagued Windows users in the past.

Here’s another video showing the BSOD in action:

Of those people who have been reporting this issue, many have stated they’ll return or exchange their iPhone 5S. Though as one user commented on Mac Rumours’ forums “So I’m guessing its a software issue and going back for another replacement won’t help. this is frustrating because I don’t see anything online about anyone else having this issue.”

The Verge reports that if you’re experiencing this issue, you can circumvent it by disabling iCloud syncing for Apple’s Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps. Apple is supposedly already working on fixing a bug related to its iMessage service not working properly. There has been no word from Apple concerning the BSOD issue thus far.
