What you missed at EGE Cape Town Day 1 [Gallery]

It’s Cape Town’s first real gaming and electronics expo, and people are pretty damn excited. Social media has been buzzing with those too busy to make their way to rAge every year, and those who haven’t really had a taste of gaming on a grand scale before.

The Electronic Gaming Expo, or EGE, took place this weekend, and Gearburn was there to capture the first day in all its nervous splendour.

Some of the more intriguing stands was the Frontosa SA booth dominating the front of the CTICC’s Hall 4, the Make Games SA booth, which was showing off locally made titles like Desktop Dungeons, Cadence and BroForce, just to name a few.

The Oculus Rift DK1 also got a run out, and proved to be the most popular booth on Friday, while the Intel and Rectron Hackathon allowed attendees to try their hand at Intel’s Edison and Galileo developer kits.

And of course, if you’re a board games aficianado, the centre of the Expo was completely dedicated to board games, from The Big Bang Theory-themed Cluedo, to greats like Machi Koro.

But words can only do so much. Have a look at the extensive gallery below.
