Samsung Galaxy A7 arrives in South Africa with swanky exterior

Amid Samsung‘s relentless push of its flagship and seriously expensive smartphones to business folk and power users, it has been silently working on a few mid-rangers aimed to fill the pockets of more sensible users.

Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy A7 is one of these devices, is now available in South Africa. To clarify its place in the Samsung family, it sits above the A5 and A3 in the youthful budget segment.

With a 5.5-inch screen, it’s not exactly small but it does cater for those fancying a little more screen estate. There’s a generous slathering of pixels too — 1920×1080 to be exact — which all fits within the confines of the 6.3mm thin body. There’s a 2600mAh battery too keeping all those pixels lit.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, which makes the likes of the Sony Xperia M5 proud, and boasts a healthy dose of 2GB of RAM.

Storage sits at 16GB but thankfully Samsung has included a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Finally, around the back there’s a 13MP snapper with autofocus and 1080p at 30fps video recording, and a 5MP selfie camera up front.

All in all, it’s a very slight package physically but staunch when it comes to specification.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 can be had for around R5999.
