It’s taking a while for Project Tango devices to come down the pike, but Lenovo has made the first move with the PHAB2 Pro smartphone.
Revealed at Lenovo Tech World 2016, the device features three cameras and various sensors on its back to enable 3D-scanning, 3D-mapping, augmented reality functionality and more.

Lenovo touted a number of real-world applications for the technology, starting with the Lowe’s Home Improvement app.
The app lets consumers search for an item they want for their home (be it a lamp or refrigerator) and virtually place it wherever they want.

The second app, dubbed Woorld, allows you to create a tiny virtual world inside your own home, placing homes, plants and other objects around the household.
Finally, a pair of games were also touted by Lenovo, in the form of the tamagotchi-like Raise and the scary Phantogeist.
Otherwise, there are apps to map building interiors, measure items, check out virtual cars and more.
A very capable phone?
As for the technical specifications, you’re looking at a beefy-but-not-quite-flagship-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB of RAM, a massive 6.4-inch 2560×1440 display, 64GB of storage and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Mobile photography enthusiasts will be using a 16MP main camera with fast autofocus and an 8MP selfie shooter.
All of this is kept going by a rather large 4050mAh battery with fast charging, so it should last quite a while on paper.
As for launch details, Lenovo is claiming a “summer” (northern hemisphere) date and a US$499 price tag.
