Samsung Galaxy S8: check these photo samples

Galaxy S8

We quite liked the Galaxy S7 Edge, producing some fantastic photos in all lighting conditions. So even though the Galaxy S8 has the same 12MP f/1.7 main camera, you really shouldn’t be too disappointed in the first place.

In fact, Samsung makes use of multi-frame image processing to reduce blur and produce a better photo. It’s a similar idea behind Google’s Pixel, which uses a near-identical camera but featured drastically improved HDR+ software smarts to spit out better results.

Has Samsung improved matters with the Galaxy S8 in the same way? It’s tough to say, but these snaps are definitely on the right track. Check them out below (right click and open them to view the full-resolution images). Want more goodness? Then check out our S8/P10 Plus/G6 camera comparison.

We featured a similar image before in our G6/P10 Plus/S8 gallery. Still, the onion ring looks crispy anyway, while the white balance was pretty much on target.

The Galaxy S8 did something weird to the subject's hand here. Another stubborn, early morning light flare of sorts too.

I took several shots here and they all had this light flare of sorts in the image. Ho-hum.

I took the P10 Plus and Galaxy S8 to this gig, with both phones sucking up the light. One note about the S8 is that it seemed to have the more even exposure, if anything. But the difference wasn't big at all, otherwise.

The Galaxy S8 manages to accurately reproduce the bright Saturday afternoon at Killarney. You aren't going to be zooming in for days, but the level of detail is good in this shot anyway.

From the dust on the bumper to the writing on the tyre wall, there's a lot of detail captured in this close-up shot.

Some sharp lines in this shot, while the cheese has a very saturated look going on.

From the Snapscan sign to the sheet of paper, we've got plenty of detail in this shot. And the kebab wasn't bad either.
