Back in July, we heard from a Hisense South Africa official that the A2 smartphone would be missing the country. Tony Shi, Hisense SA’s cellular product line director, told media that the unannounced (at the time) A2 Pro model would be coming to our shores though.
Last week finally saw the device confirmed at IFA 2017, so we thought it would be wise to chase more specific launch details for South Africa.

Now, the company’s local marketing agency has confirmed that the A2 Pro is no longer on the cards for the region.
Hisense has made an about-turn on the A2 Pro coming to South Africa
“Unfortunately Hisense has decided that the A2 Pro smartphone will not be launching in SA,” a marketing representative told Gearburn. “It has been confirmed that the phone will launch in China during the first quarter of next year.”
The A2 Pro packs a power-sipping Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage and a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen. Otherwise, the phone also stands out thanks to a 4.7-inch e-ink display on the back, which can be used for reading, mirroring the main display, widgets and more.
Here’s hoping the H10, which was also confirmed for release in SA, isn’t cut from the schedule either.
