Could our collective future include a 500bhp Alfa super sedan

Petrol-heads around the world will be perking their ears at this news. Alfa Romeo is reportedly working on a 500bhp super sedan aimed squarely at taking on the BMW M3.

According to the UK’s Auto Express, when Alfa launches its Guilia sedan next year, it will include a barn-storming variant tweaked for performance from the get-go.

Power will reportedly come courtesy of a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6. Auto Express also reports that the Guilia will will be rear-wheel drive and will be lighter than the 1 635kg M3. That means its 0-100km/h time should also be significantly faster than that of the M3.

If chewing up and spitting out M3s isn’t your thing, then you will be able to buy slightly more sedate 118bhp to 200bhp versions for a fraction of the cost. It seems there’s a 350bhp power version, based on the Ghibli unit that’s also in the works.

If all of this is true, then it looks like things may well be on the up in Alfa land and that’s good news in anyone’s books.
