Real Valley geeks? Silicon Valley gets its own reality show
Silicon Valley has its own reality show? Say what? Well I can’t say I am surprised. In a world where reality is more entertaining than fiction, surely the lot shaping how we engage and exist in the new world should also have their own show. Well Bravo couldn’t agree more!
So the US television network has announced a new show focused on Silicon Valley. The show is set to star seven Silicon Valley movers and shakers including an executive producer role by Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Girl Zuckerberg left Facebook and her brother behind to start her own company, R to Z Media. In her resignation letter, which the good folks at AllThingsD got their hands on she said, “My goal is to launch my own innovative programming and work with media companies to develop their programming in new, and more social ways.”
And so she has. Reality TV seems to be her first stop.
Startups are so in right now, it’s all the rage and big entertainment is noticing too. In the press release announcing the show, Bravo describes it as capturing the “intertwining lives of young professionals on the path to becoming Silicon Valley’s next great success stories”.
If you were ever in doubt about it being the time of the geek, well doubt it no more because reality TV has dubbed it so.
According to a VentureBeat report, Bravo began casting for the show back in October through an ad on Craigslist. How 2.0 of them. Casters apparently even sent a letter to Digg founder Kevin Rose, who tweeted “yuck” in response. Way to stay true Kevin.

Right now the boringly named Silicon Valley doesn’t seem to have an air date but the show’s cast, those that didn’t say “yuck”, include: Hermione Way — a journalist at The Next Web–, Kim Taylor — an account director at Ampush Media — and Dwight Crow — the founder of a new startup.
Bravo is also working a docu-series called “Huh?” that will follow the lives of Cheezburger Network’s founder Ben Huh and his staff. Really? Is nothing sacred anymore? I guess it was inevitable that the cats would find their way to television.
