‘Pay with Google’ simplifies mobile payments on Android

Filling out forms completely suck, and even more so on mobiles. This is especially true when you just can’t wait to part with your hard earned cash for that oh so cheesy pizza. But Google hopes to make this quarrelsome system a little simpler.

Its “Pay with Google” service, previewed in May, is now live in the United States. The service should also be live in countries that support Google’s Android Pay infrastructure.

Replacing forms altogether, Pay with Google lists the credit and debit cards you’ve connected to your Google Account, or via its other services like Google Play or YouTube.

During checkout the buyer chooses a card. Google will then send the merchant payment info and the relevant shipping address tied to your account.

Pay with Google is currently compatible with 14 stores, including the likes of Instacart and Wish, with a host of new retailers coming soon.

There’s no word on when the feature will be available in South Africa. And considering that Android Pay is not yet live in the country, Pay with Google may take a while to arrive.
