Deadpool 2 spends third week above Avengers: Infinity War in SA movie chart
It looks like Marvel has a new hit movie series on its hands. If indications of the first Deadpool‘s success wasn’t enough, the sequel has now topped the Southern African movie charts for the third weekend running.
According to Ster-Kinekor data, Deadpool 2 hasn’t yet usurped Avengers: Infinity War‘s local earnings just yet, even if it has made some US$600-million globally.
The showpiece of the MCU has racked up just under R70-million locally since its debut on the chart nearly two months ago. It however remains Southern Africa’s second most popular movie.

Gabrielle Union’s Breaking In debuts in third place; a strong local start for the thriller that has been panned by international media.
Solo: A Star Wars Story — a flick that has been welcomed by critics but not by fans — continues its disappointing run in the charts, dropping one place to fourth position.
Animated fart-joke movie and sequel to Gnomeo and Juliet, Sherlock Gnomes, is somehow still charting in fifth position, while another newcomer Overboard enters the chart in sixth.
Even more remarkable is Tyler Perry’s Acrimony. The psychological thriller starring Taraji P. Henson has spent nine weeks in the chart since its debut at the end of March.
Gangster flick Nommer 37 is the only South African movie in the chart this week, debuting in eighth position.
