The video platform's also encouraging Community Fundraisers, which allow creators and non-profits to team up and join each other for their causes. • Eminem dropped a surprise new album, and the internet can’t deal

Eminem dropped his latest surprise album at midnight and it has sent the internet into a frenzy. Titled Kamikaze, the 13 track album is very much a long, angry rant about various social and political issues, particularly in the rap industry. It also directly calls out a significant number of popular rappers, including Drake. “…if you ain’t Joyner/If you ain’t Kendrick or Cole/Or Sean then you’re a goner”, says the rapper in the first track on the album, "The Ringer". Eminem announced Kamikaze’s release on his Twitter account, saying, “Tried not 2 overthink this 1... enjoy.” Tried not 2 overthink this 1... enjoy....

  • How much time do you spend on YouTube? Now you can find out

Ever wondered how much time you spend on YouTube? I’m sure you often feel like the answer is “too much” either way you look at it. But this week Google has rolled out more tools to make you face uncomfortable truths in the form of a digital wellbeing dashboard. “To give you a better understanding of how much you watch, we’ve built a profile that’s available in your account menu”, the company announced on its official blog. “This profile tells you how long you’ve watched YouTube videos today, yesterday and over the past seven days.” As is common with time tracking features across...

Instagram is bringing new security features to the social network. In a statement released by CTO Mike Krieger, the company will debut three additional safety features to its platform. "Our mission is to bring you closer to the people and things you love. That closeness can only happen if Instagram is a safe place”, he said. The first new feature adds an "about this account" menu to user profiles. “You will be able to see more information about accounts on Instagram that reach large audiences so you can evaluate the authenticity of the account.”, Krieger explains. Said information includes country of origin, mutual followers,...

  • 3 Android apps I use to battle procrastination

If you’re more of a visual thinker like me, or simply just extra forgetful, then writing down to-dos, making lists and putting up sticky notes is the best way to encourage (and remind) you to work. There’s nothing like scrunching up a little piece of accomplished paper or striking off some words in a book to make you feel truly productive == so how do you replicate that feeling for computers and phones? In the ever-expanding universe of distractions, screens are procrastination’s best friend. But thanks to the same technology, we can make use of productivity apps, which are just apps...

The feature, which mirror's Twitter's recommendation tweets, will appear at the bottom of your timeline "once you’ve seen everything new from people you follow," the social network writes. This feature is supposed to help extend the range of posts users see, and the range of users who see your posts. “Our goal is to make Feed the best place to share and connect with people and interests that matter most to you”, Instagram adds. It's not clear if or how these recommendations will favour some users over others. The feature's currently being...

Since the announcement of an expanding Star Trek universe and the return of one of its much loved characters, Google search trends showed a 150% increase in Star Trek related searches online. If you’re one of...

  • Here are the coolest new emoji coming to Android Pie

With Google’s recent launch of Android 9 comes Emoji 11.0 and a bunch of new, expressive and politically correct, emojis for users. Though the entire list is 157 new characters long, here are some of our honourable mentions. The Hot Face This emoji looks like it just ran a marathon it didn’t train for, and is so relatable to everyday life. I can imagine it being used to describe anything from a terribly hot day, to disappointing food and even just the general fatigue of daily life we all suffer from. The Pleading Face Admittedly the so called pleading face looks more like the face...

  • 400m people now use Instagram Stories every day

It’s been two years since Instagram first released Instagram Stories, an interactive photo sharing feature that can be found on its main app. In August 2016, Stories gained 100-million users per day within the first two months of its release, 250-million in a year, and passed the 300-million user mark in late 2017. Now, it has over 400-million daily users. This comes as Snapchat itself struggles to keep pace with the Facebook-owned service. It's only used by 191-million users daily. Although initially slated for copying Snapchat, Instagram Stories had added a few novel features. Additions like Boomerang, camera effects, a multitude of...

  • 6 photo editing and effects apps you should try today

With hundreds of photography apps out there all claiming to give you the best editing experience, it’s no surprise that we sometimes end up downloading dozens of photo editing apps hoping to find exactly that we’re looking for, only to feel a bit frustrated at the outcome. There are, however, some photography-related apps among the many that can truly take your pictures to the next level. For me, it all depends on what vibe you want your photography to portray. I usually prefer true, clean editing over all the filters, stickers and manipulations. However, creating little pieces of your own art...

  • WhatsApp will limit how many messages you can forward

Last week WhatsApp announced that it will label forwarded messages. This week, the social media platform is launching a test to limit forwarded messages altogether. Limited forwarding means that there will be a certain number of chats you can forward to a group of specific user at a time. Though the blog post did not say what this limit will specifically be, it did state that users in India will be given a "lower" limit of five chats at once, along with the removal of the quick forwarding option. According to WhatsApp, India has the highest forwarding traffic of any nation. "We believe...
