BlackBerry sends official Rugby World Cup app onto the field

BlackBerry has released its Official Rugby World Cup 2011 App before the tournament starts on 9 September 2011 in New Zealand. The App will feature live match text commentary and score updates, half time and full time video highlights, tournament news, statistics and much more. This will give fans a chance to stay on top of all the Rugby World Cup 2011 action in real time.

BlackBerry says its ‘Official App’ includes Blackberry-tabulous features such as a native calendar and messaging integration which provides automatic match reminders and the ability to forward reminders to friends so users can keep abreast with all tournament developments.

The app also comes with a full BBM 6 integration that provides real-time content sharing, automatic status updates and a live match in-app chat.

The following Blackberry devices are supported: PlayBook, BlackBerry Torch 9800, BlackBerry Bold 9780, BlackBerry Bold 9700, BlackBerry Curve 9300, BlackBerry Curve 8520 and BlackBerry Pearl 9100 smartphones (OS 5.0 or higher required).

The app can be downloaded from BlackBerry App World.
