Nokia announces the dual-SIM Asha 310
Nokia has announced a new addition to its feature phone line-up. The Nokia Asha 310 runs on the Series 40 platform and can be considered an upgrade of the 309 and 308, released last year.
Considered to be more of a budget smartphone, the 310 still sports enough features to make the price-conscious buyer happy. A 3-inch 400 x 240 capacitive touchscreen amounts to a 155ppi (pixels per inch) density, and internal storage is 64MB that can be expanded to 32GB with a microSD card. Nokia’s Xpress Browser for surfing the internet is included, as is Nokia Maps. 3G is unfortunately not an available feature, but with WiFi capability downloading those maps should not be a problem as Nokia Maps are downloaded once and stored internally.
At the back though will be a rather disappointing 2 megapixel camera that will capture images in 1600 x 1200 resolution, and video in a measly 10 frame per second ratio. The phone will however have support for dual-SIM. This would allow a user to choose wisely between what mobile network service offers the best rates for a specific use, be it messaging or web browsing or making a call.
The Nokia Express Browser is also able to compress data by up to 90%, allowing for faster internet browsing even over slower connections and thus saving more time and data, further adding to the budget phone idea. The phone comes preloaded with email, Facebook, Twitter and eBuddy, and on purchase 40 free EA games will be available for download from the app store.
