iPhone 6 leaked images shows protruding camera, slimmer design

These recent images found on Chinese social site Weibo show what are claimed to be photos of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6. The user who posted the images claims that they’re captured directly from a Foxconn employee’s computer monitor and shows the alleged iPhone 6 with a bulky camera.

The awkward protruding camera lens could indicate that Apple’s opting for a slimmer iPhone but sticking to a heftier, slightly bigger camera. Is Apple going for a slimmer iPhone, a more powerful camera or both (hopefully both)?

The images hints that the iPhone 6 will have a redesigned aluminium back plate and shows the camera lens protruding out the back of the device. We can expect to see much greater attention to the size and quality of the camera as capturing clean shots has always been one of the iPhone’s fortes. That, and its design.

Rumours suggest that the iPhone 6 will be revealed sometime in September and that there will be two new models — one with a 4.7″ display, while the other will carry a 5.5″. Those displays are much larger than Apple’s current range of smartphones. The iPhone 5s, for instance, features a 4″ display.

According to G for Games, the iPhone 6 is expected to be a mere 7mm thin. This would be a massive cut from the previous few iPhone 5 models which all clocks in at 7.6mm thick. Yes, in the world of design and engineering every millimetre counts.

Though 7mm is super thin, the smartphone that’s hailed as being the thinnest in the world is the Elfie S5.5 which slices in at a ridiculous 5.5mm.
