Daihatsu FC凸DECK is one cool mutha’trucker

FC DECK

Daihatsu, never one to shy away from the quirky and ridiculous (after all it gave us a real life version of Noddy’s car in the form of the Copen) will debut the FC凸DECK concept at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show (on right now).

If you’re wondering what the ‘凸’ is, apparently it means “to protrude” in Japanese — apt considering that sticky-out passenger compartment.

Built around the principles of Japanese Kei Car culture which demands that such cars boast no more than 660cc engine capacity and be no longer than 3.4 metres in length, the FC凸DECK is…well just awesome. Looking halfway between a kitchen appliance and something you might have built out of LEGO as a kid.

I’ll be honest, unless it looks like Optimus Prime I’m not really interested in driving a truck, or Semi as our American friends call them. That’s got a lot to do with all those gears and terrifying blind spots as illustrated here. But the FC凸DECK? Hells yes!

What would you use it for? Who knows, and who cares! For now let’s just bask in the awesomeness of it. Well Daihatsu, well done! I like 凸.
