Although the Norschleife and Circuit de la Sarthe often top the “scariest circuits in the world” list, the Snaefell Mountain Course on the hills of the Isle of Man should definitely be included. This 60km beast of ribboned tarmac winds through towns and sea-swept vistas, playing host to the annual and legendary Isle of Man TT motorcycle event.

Each year, competitors aim to be the fastest around the daunting track on skinny motorcycles without so much as a bale of hay to cusion their falls. Mark Higgins though, is not known for doing this on a bike. The three-time British Rally Champion has done some insane things in cars before, including the stunts in Quantam of Solice and Skyfall.

In 2011, he set the production car lap record for the TT Course and In fact, came close to binning it, if it wasn’t for a massive tail-slide recovery at 240km/h. This year, Higgins shook off the incident and has broken his record again. His 2015 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, clocked a 19:26 lap at an average speed of 187.44km/h. Note average speed.

Watch Higgins’s heartrate jump and his face swell with concentration as he enters the start/finish straight. Although the real driving only begins at the three minute mark, from there on it’s a pure driving showcase.
