KIA releases new Optima sketch ahead of New York launch

KIA is set launch a new version of the Optima at the New York Auto Show and, if the latest teaser sketch is anything to go by, it’ll be more low-slung muscle car than sensible sedan.

Of course, design sketches tend to be more than a little optimistic. They are, after all, their creator’s vision of what the car should be, rather than a realistic reflection of what economics and scale actually allow for.

What we can take from the image is that the so-called “tiger” grill will be more aggressive than in the current model and that the sides and wheel arches will most likely be more sculpted.

The only other information supplied by KIA is that the “all new” Optima has been “passionately designed and obsessively crafted”.

As Carscoops points out however, we also know that it’ll share a platform with the latest Hyundai Sonata and will most likely also come with similar engine options to its Korean cousin.
