Keira Knightley: The Pirates of the Caribbean star admitted that she “hates the internet. I find it dehumanizing to constantly check emails or social sites which have become so fashionable.”
Natalie Portman: While she was actually at Harvard when Facebook was being created and “partied with the Winkelvoss Twins”, the current Best Actress has no interest in joining the social media feeding frenzy.
Tina Fey: Speaking to late-night talk show host Craig Ferguson, Fey said that “If I got into [Twitter], I would get into it too much. I feel like if I had any jokes, I would hold them back.”
Angsty pop-singer James Blunt: “The record label want me to tweet, but I find the whole thing awkward. I’ve never tweeted before and I’m not really good at it – I feel pretty stupid. So pity me for having to do that.”
Zac Efron: “I don’t have a Twitter, a MySpace or a Facebook or anything like that,” he told People. “I kind of value in people not knowing where I am or what I’m doing.” He added that his Twitter feed wouldn’t be exciting: “I’m on the toilet. Still on the toilet. Guys, dot-dot-dot, out of TP. Still on the toilet.”
Drew Barrymore: “No Facebook for me. I don’t mean to be rude, but if we haven’t talked in 20 years, there’s probably a reason,” she declared April 20 on an episode of Live With Regis and Kelly. “I don’t know what Twitter is, and people keep trying to explain it to me, and I’m like, ‘I don’t want to know!’ ”
Jon Stewart: During a segment on his popular Daily Show, the host tried to explain Twitter. “For the uninitiated, here’s how Twitter works — I have no [expletive] idea… I have no idea how it works — or why it is.”
But there is some truth in the old saying that nothing lasts forever. Stars, like anyone else, can start off sceptical of Twitter and then have an epiphany and become dedicated micro-bloggers.
Hip-hop superstar Kanye West, now a confirmed twitaholic with over 3-million followers once said “”Why would I use Twitter? I only blog 5 percent of what I’m up to in the first place… Everything that Twitter offers I need less of.”
