A stunning YouTube journey — Six videos to wow

YouTube has come to define the era of online video publishing. It has created innovative ways for individuals to tell their stories. Giving them a unique opportunity to share their views and experiences.

In 2009 Israel-based producer Ophir Kutiel, better known as Kutiman, put together a series of online music videos called “ThruYOU“. The project consisted of samples of different YouTube videos which were mashed-up to create a singular video. The videos received more than 10-million views within a few months. The project was later named by Time Magazine as one of the “50 Best Inventions of 2009”.

The success of the ThruYOU project got Kutiman noticed by YouTube and he was invited to perform at the grand opening of “YouTube Play” at the Guggenheim in New York city, in October 2010.

Following the success of the project, Kutiman recently released another mashed-up YouTube video, “My Favorite Color” which earned him a mention in popular tech magazine, Wired.

Lawrence Lessig, an open source advocate, referred to the project as new, less regulated form of media, saying “If you come to the Net armed with the idea that the old system of copyright is going to work just fine here, this more than anything is going to get you to recognise: you need some new ideas.”

To top the beauty of his earlier ThruYou series and My Favorite Color, Kutiman, a few weeks ago released “Thru Jerusalem” — a stunning video that gives viewers a look at Jerusalem through Kutiman’s eyes.

Below are some of the stunning creations to come from the mind of Kutiman.
