‘New new’ Twitter rolls out to all users

It’s official, everyone now has “new new” Twitter. The social network announced the redesign late last year but initially only rolled it out to a limited number of users as it was given final performance tweaks.

Twitter’s official support account made the announcement earlier today:

While the new design hasn’t been met with quite the same kind of public outcry as there was with Facebook’s most recent update, there were still some people complaining.

Any journalists and bloggers left out of the updates until now will, however, be happy that they’re finally able to use “embed this tweet” function.

When the company announced the redesign it made sure to emphasise that it would help advertisers “create an even more compelling destination” for their brands.

One of the most important changes in this regard is one that allows people to control which tweet first appears on their profile page.

Twitter reckons this new ability to “promote tweets” is also great for brands as it “helps you highlight your most engaging and important content and better connect with your target audience”.
