When Apple confirmed that it had a record-breaking weekend with the new iPad, we said it probably wouldn’t be long before it announced some official figures. We weren’t wrong.
Just hours after a conference call in which Tim Cook and Peter Oppenheimer detailed what the Cupertino-based tech giant was going to do with its massive hoard of cash, Apple announced it had sold three-million new iPads since Friday.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller confirmed that it was “the strongest iPad launch yet”.
“Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”
Bear in mind that this was only a limited release and it becomes obvious that sales of the new iPad probably aren’t about to slow down any time soon.
The next batch of countries to get the new iPad will be on 23 March through the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorised Resellers, including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Among the most talked about features of the new iPad is its 2048×1536 “resolutionary” screen. The new model is slightly heavier and thicker than the iPad 2, largely down to a bigger battery.
