Avengers trailer sets new viewership records

If there’s one movie that geeks everywhere are desperately awaiting this year, it’s The Avengers (or, for UK audiences, The Avengers Assemble).

If you want to know how desperate they are, the fact that the new trailer was viewed over 13.7 million times in the first 24 hours of its debut should give you some kind of an indication.

It also set a new record for the most viewed trailer on iTunes and the iTunes Trailers app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

In “Marvel’s The Avengers” the world’s greatest Super Heroes assemble when Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) join S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to protect the world from the dangerous and powerful villain, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

The film is directed by Joss Whedon, most famous for being the creator sci-fi western Firefly and action horror Buffy the Vampire Slayer and is based on the Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963.
