Chinese tech giant Huawei is probably best known for its cheap mobile devices and 3G modems (although it did play a starring role at this year’s Mobile World Congress).
Now though, it wants to show it can do enterprise too. As part of this, the company is demoing off a number of its new business products with a Mobile Truck Road Show.

The Huawei truck is, which is currently making its way through South Africa, is equipped with a number of the company’s “enterprise solutions”.
These include cloud computing products and Virtual Teller Machines (VTMs), as well as unified communications, IP networks, security, data centre demos, telepresence,
Huawei claims the VTM “plays the role of the traditional banking business hall by means of providing remote virtual counter services”.
This, it says reduces “manual service workload of clerks at banks”.
Huawei claims it virtual tellers will also lead the way in financial services by “integrating multiple innovative technologies, in particular, integrating such channels as telephone banking, online banking, business halls, and Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)”.
It is also showing off a number of products designed for industries such as transport, broadcasting, energy and distribution.
According to Lauren Fan, president at Huawei Enterprise, Eastern and Southern Africa the move into enterprise is a step away from the company’s traditional comfort zone:
“Huawei as a brand is well-known in the carrier markets. We are now boldly making ourselves known in the enterprise space”.
