Chappies uses crowdsourcing to gather the latest ‘Did you knows’

Everyone is reinventing themselves in the social era. Even popular budget bubblegum maker Chappies has decided to join the revolution. The gum-maker’s wrappers are popular for their quirky “Did you know” fun facts meant to entertain chewers as they enjoy their gum. The company has decided to launch a new crowdsourcing campaign that allows lovers of Chappies to contribute the latest set of “Did you knows” through its website and Facebook page.

Throughout July, users have been posting facts on the Chappies Facebook page.

“If yours is one of the best, it’ll be printed on millions of wrappers and become part of Chappies’ 60 year ‘Did You Know?’ history. So get posting. Chappies fame awaits,” says the gum company.

The company’s hope is that it will be able to collect new facts that haven’t been printed in the wrappers before and that its consumers will have fun with the competition. People whose facts make the cut could also pick up other prizes which include a year’s supply of Chappies bubblegum, retro headphones and notebooks.

“Chappies has 60 years’ of knowledge on their wrappers. We want people who’ve embraced the information age to add to that rich base. Of course, consumers will have to keep their facts short and sharp, which is actually perfect for the Twitter generation,” says Chappies brand manager, Suhayl Limbada of Kraft foods.
