Things might have just got a little easier for mobile app developers on Facebook. The social network announced that it will now let them advertise their apps on Facebook.
Facebook claims that ads for apps on its mobile offerings have driven people to the Apple App store and the Google Play Store 146 million times in the last month. These clicks, it says came “channels such as news feed, timeline, bookmarks and App Center”.
No ad to show here.
Mobile ads, it says, are another way of driving that growth:
When a person clicks on one of these ads, if they do not have the app installed they will be sent to the App Store or Google Play to get it.
It’s also, of course, another way for Facebook to make money. The programme will charge developers for advertising on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis, although they will be able to set their own budget.
According to The Wall Street Journal the initiative uses the technology that allows Facebook to target people based on the apps they use.
