Think Google doesn’t have a sense humour? Well, you’re wrong. Remember a while back when that Oatmeal guy, Matthew Inman, dissed Google+ because no one used it and he couldn’t get a vanity URL?

Inman didn’t completely say Google+ was down for the count: he wrote a post pointing everyone to his comic (see below) on how comments on Google+ sounds like crickets. Then he went on to say that:
Google+ is still a very young social network. Give it another 6 months to a year and maybe it’ll begin to really chip away at Facebook. Also, the new design is pretty bitchin, although I still wish I could set up a fancy profile URL so I don’t have to link people to http://plus.google.com/blergasdf1234thimbleturdorgasm99meatpoopypoopxv9donkeypie when I want them to follow me.
Well, apparently he shouldn’t have done that. According to a report on Techcrunch the engineers at Google+ decided to get even. You go geeks, don’t get mad, get even.
What did they do? They redirected http://plus.google.com/blergasdf1234thimbleturdorgasm99meatpoopypoopxv9donkeypie to Matthew Inman’s Google+ profile, so now the Oatmeal author can have his fancy ridiculously long and somewhat inappropriate URL with the phrases like “turd orgasm”, “poopy poop” and “donkeypie” in it. Lesson here: don’t mess with the Google geeks.
What’s more fun is that the engineers have a note in the social network’s code asking future engineers not to take out the redirect, saying: “Don’t take this out, we’re fucking with The Oatmeal.”
Inman doesn’t seem to have responded to this yet.
