Boom. There are now 675 000 apps on the Google Play Store and they’ve been downloaded 25-billion times. Impressive.
To celebrate the milestone, the internet giant announced that it would be offering discounts on a number of paid-for apps from the likes of Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, runtastic, and Full Fat.

It will also be releasing a number of special offer collections “like 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and our 25 top-selling magazines”.
The figures announced today show that Google is rapidly closing the gap on Apple. The Cupertino-based giant recently announced that its app store had passed 700 000 apps and that 90% of them were downloaded on a monthly basis.
During its I/O event back in June, Google announced that there were 600 000 apps in the Play Store and that they’d been downloaded 20-billion times.
