And cue the next portion of Microsoft’s US$1-billion plus ad blitz. The Redmond-based giant has released the first TV ad for the Surface, and, well, interesting is probably the best way to describe it.
No ad to show here.
The ad makes prominent use of the clicking sound generated by the tablet’s kickstand and magnetic keyboard. Those sounds then set the rhythm for businessmen sitting with their Surfaces like extras from a Kraftwerk gig, crunking school girls and what appears to be an incredibly elaborate tablet swapping party.
None of this tells you anything about the actual product. Then again, Microsoft isn’t really trying to sell this tablet on specs. Instead it’s selling the tablet on its cool factor.
That makes sense. As we noted when the Surface was announced, it is an incredibly cool tablet. Sure the specs are great, but performance has very little do with how cool something is.
