Nando’s offers top SA lawman advice following Twitter gaffe

After the conviction of a popular entertainer for homicide, a spokesperson for a specialist crime-fighting unit sent out a Tweet that has the potential to land him in seriously hot water.

Colonel McIntosh Polela of the Hawks — a division of the South African Police Service — tweeted: “I trust that JubJub’s supporters gave him a jar of Vaseline to take to prison”.

The tweet, which was sent after the conviction of the popular entertainer for killing several school children while drag racing in 2010, is a reference to the high prevalence of rape in the country’s prisons.

As well as drawing the ire of human rights groups, the tweet inspired the fast food chicken franchise to offer Polela some advice in order to avoid future gaffes.
