If you fancy yourself a bit of a story-teller then Twitter’s latest announcement might be right up your alley.

The social network has announced that it will be holding a virtual story-telling competition towards the end of November. The Twitter Fiction Festival, it says is “a virtual storytelling celebration held entirely on Twitter”. The competition will reportedly feature “creative experiments in storytelling” from “authors around the world”.

Twitter says the festival builds on previous literary experiments it’s hosted.

If you’re going to take part in the festival, Twitter says it needs you to explain “how you are going to explore content formats that already exist on Twitter — short story in Tweets, a Twitter chat, live-tweeting — or, even better, how you’ll create a new one”.

It wants potential authors to be able to work in real–time and address a global audience. “The proposal must fit into the time window of our five-day festival— but that means that a project could run for the length of the festival, or just for an hour,” it says.

Anyone looking to participate can fill in the entry form. The selected authors and festival agenda will be announced on 19 November, with the festival itself kicking off on 28 November.
