There seems to be a checklist in place before an iProduct launch. First come the rumours, the leaked grainy images and the outpouring of “people knowledgeable with the matter”. Then comes a press invite, with some slightly not-so-cryptic one liner about having something “you really have to see. And touch” (the new iPad) or the fact that something is “almost here”, placed above the shadow of a five (the iPhone 5). Then images of the decoration and branding of the launch event start to surface, and the iStore goes offline briefly as new products are added. If we’re lucky, someone will find the link to some as yet unpublished press release or pictures on the official website. Then the launch event begins.
As the team behind The Joy of Tech points out, there is a checklist in place for the event as well. The invite has already suggested that Apple has “a little more to show you”, but, as their latest comic points out, we can already figure out what will be unveiled at the iPad Mini event.

There will be some stunning sales figures, maybe a minor mention of the Maps disaster (that has had people saying the man in charge, software exec Scott Forstall, should be fired) and a demo of the gadget that you never knew you needed.
All that is left to do is watch some videos of Apple design guru Jony Ives talking about how they made the baby iPad, listen to the musical guest (last time it was the Foo Fighters) and decide whether or not you need a 7.85-inch tablet with a fruit on the back.
