Oh man, you can just see the bosses at Zynga rubbing their hands in glee when they hatched this one.

The social gaming giant just fired 100 people, attempting to hide the move behind the hype of Apple’s iPad mini launch.

According to Ars Techica, employees were notified that they’d been axed during the event and were given two hours to vacate the premises.

So while most of the tech world began dissecting Apple’s latest range of iProducts, employees across Zynga’s US offices were clearing out their desks.

The company has been struggling of late, especially as a slew of competitors move into the space it once dominated on Facebook.

None of that however is a legitimate excuse for firing 100 employees without warning.

Now imagine what’s going through the heads of those same bosses as headline after headline makes them realise how badly their strategy’s backfired.
