FaceWash: your ticket to a squeaky clean Facebook profile

Facewash

If you’re applying for an incredibly serious high-profile corporate job, then it really doesn’t do to have a Facebook profile filled with profanities, especially not after the launch of Graph Search.

Fortunately a new service called Facewash promises to clean up your profile and give you “a more professional social life”.

The Facebook app scans your profile, looking at your wall, comments on your statuses, photos you’re tagged in and photos you’ve uploaded highlighting profanities as it goes. According to The Next Web, it flags everything from “xxx” to “butt”, allowing you to edit or delete posts at your own discretion.

If you’re looking for specific terms meanwhile there is a search bar, which will help out on that front.

If nothing else, the app acknowledges some of the issues inherent with living in the online social era. There’s been massive controversy about potential employers judging people on their Facebook profiles before, but it’s was inevitable that social networks would become a go-to mechanism for assessing their fit within a company’s culture.

Still, you can’t help feeling like you’re stuck in an Orwellian nightmare when people are getting apps to help them out with voluntary self-censorship.
