Ah, those Googlers appreciate romance… even when it involves reptiles and sea creatures. In today’s doodle, the search giant bundled George Washington Gale Ferris Jnr‘s birthday in with Valentines Day to create a theme park complete with sweeping roller coasters and flashing lights.

The interactive variation on Google’s search page logo celebrates the 154th birthday of the inventor of the Ferris Wheel and the memory of Saint Valentine with quirky tales about animals in love. Click on the heart-shaped button in the centre of the doodle and you’ll be greeted with a spinning wheel and a selection of scenes like a tiger and a horse admiring the moon, a couple re-enacting the boom-box scene from Say Anything and an octopus unimpressed with its date’s choice of restaurant.
If you’re a happy singleton, Google has a part of the doodle for you too: there’s a content fox that is quite happy alone with his TV and a bowl of popcorn, no significant other in sight.
