The company, Ceres Fruit Juice, launched a limited edition Apple flavour in response to its competitor Liqui-Fruit’s recent release of a BlackBerry flavour.
As part of the launch, Ceres has released an online game which can be found on its Facebook Page. It’s a pretty simple Angry Birds-style game, which consists of the Ceres Limited Edition Apple “clearing the valley of all the sneaky blackberries” by shooting apples at their competitor. The game is also the entry mechanism for a competition in which people have the chance to win one of seven iPhone 5s.
The fact that the game isn’t the worst way to waste a few minutes of your work day means that you at least get some reward, even if you don’t win anything in the competition.
“We thought we would have a bit of fun by responding to Liqui-Fruit’s recently launched blackberry flavour by launching a limited edition apple, just like competing handset brands out there ” says Nabeel Schrueder, Ceres’ Brand Manager.
The campaign also includes at least one ad that plays into the classy minimalism found in Apple’s marketing material.
Clever, innovative, relevant and a little bit edgy. We like it.
