YouTube has officially rolled out a new version of its new channel design called One Channel.
No ad to show here.
The update, which is part of a bid to “help people “find the channels [they] love and subscribe, subscribe, subscribe”. had already been rolled out to a few select channels late last year.
Now it’s been applied to all the channels on the video network. According to YouTube:
The main focus of this update is to make your new channel look great on browsers across all screens and devices. It will also help you convert more visitors into subscribers with a slot for a channel trailer, and you can customize how you organize your videos and playlists so it fits your programming strategy.
Among the most interesting of the changes that come with the update (which isn’t all that significant aesthetically), is the option to have a welcome video explaining your channel to anyone who hasn’t viewed it before.
There is however, less freedom to tweak the layout of your channel, which some people could find frustrating.
YouTube is investing serious money in channels and has spent hundreds of millions of dollars partnering with celebrities and rising YouTube stars alike to produce original content. That’s hardly surprising, considering it’s made the service what it is today.
