Twitter launches #FollowMe, sums you up in a movie highlight reel

Twitter announced its second partnership with Portland startup Vizify today. It’s called #FollowMe and it collects standout messages, images and video clips from your Twitter feed, and weaves them into a type of animated highlight reel. Twitter showed it off last night at a programme on Turner Television called the “NBA Social Media Awards.”

You can create your own by signing in to Vizify and allowing Vizify access to your Twitter account. Once Vizify has made your video, you can adjust the music or choose different elements (photos, tweets and of course Vine videos). If you want to create a new one, just refresh to see a new video.

According to Oregon Live, the music for the videos come from Friendly Music, a partnership between another Portland company — Rumblefish — and YouTube that licenses songs for online video.

Vizify creates interactive infographics based on input from social media sites. Last year Twitter partnered with Vizify to ceate a “Year in Review” feature to showcase high points from users’ 2012 Tweets. Vizify didn’t benefit monetarily from the first partnership, the company settled for the exposure instead. Vizify was reportedly compensated an undisclosed amount for round two, however.

Vizify is being selective about its partnerships and exploring different ways of monetising the service, Oregon Live reports.

Vizify was a member of the inaugural class of the Portland Seed Fund, and took part in the Seattle chapter of the startup accelerator TechStars. It raised US$1.2-million from angel investors including the founder of Picnik, Jonathan Sposato, Founder and Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Tim Draper, Bill McAleer of Voyager Capital, and Co-founder of Feedburner Matt Shobe, among others says TechCrunch.
